Ready In and Out of Season

As most of us are aware that our life consists of different seasons. Some really exciting and some we would just want to press the fast forward button on move onto the next because of all the trials and tribulations faced.

2 Timothy 4:2

Preach the Word! Be ready in and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.

When Paul writes to Timothy he is encouraging Timothy to take up his role in ministry. He is saying preach the word with urgency when circumstances are favourable and when they are not so favourable. Do not be frustrated by opposition. Continue to stand strong. Be tirelessly faithful in those things God has commissioned you to do. Be a committed servant of Gods Word. Be prepared at any time, whether convenient or inconvenient to proclaim it and patiently instruct those who don’t understand or accept it.

While many of us suffer from the unbalanced tendency to”be ready” only “in season” the season does not refer to time this case but to us.

In other words we should be ready whether we feel like it or not. If we do only what we feel inclined to do, some of us would never do anything. The proof that our relationship is right with God is that we do our best whether we feel like it or not. We Preach!!!!

To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose under the heaven. Ecc 3 verse 1. Whether a season of divine favour or a season of being pressed down and shaken. Whether a suddenly season to a season of feeling down and isolated. There is still a responsibilty to Preach the Word that lies with us.

We have no right to decide where we should be placed, or to have preconceived ideas as to what God is preparing us to do. God engineers everything. We might not like where we are at times. We might not feel like sharing that testimony but we will always have a responsibilty to Preach the Word!!!!

2 Timothy 4 verse 5

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist and fulfill your ministry.
